England Vs Iceland Euro 2016

Iceland stun England to reach EURO 2016 quarter-finals

Late winner from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson sends England crashing out

Roy Hodgson's men pay the price for profligacy as Iceland produce giant-killing performance

ICELAND have produced one of the biggest shocks in European Championship history by dumping England out of EURO 2016.

Roy Hodgson's men were overwhelming favourites heading into the last-16 clash in Nice, but they were stunned by a resilient Iceland side who thoroughly deserved their victory.

Ragnar Sigurdsson had given Iceland a shock lead in the sixth minute, before Wayne Rooney equalised with a penalty on the half-hour mark.

But Kolbeinn Sigthorsson popped up with a dramatic winner in the 51st minute to send England crashing out and book Iceland's place in the quarter-finals.

It is a remarkable achievement for Iceland, who are the smallest nation to ever reach the quarter-finals of a major tournament.
